The PADI Equipment Specialist specialty is an educational course designed to help divers become more knowledgeable and confident with the scuba equipment they use on every dive. The focus is on understanding equipment function, proper care, and preventative maintenance practices that improve reliability and longevity.
This course does not teach scuba equipment repair or servicing. Divers will not disassemble, modify, or service regulators, BCDs, or other life-support equipment. All repairs, overhauls, and servicing of scuba equipment must be performed by manufacturer-certified service technicians using approved parts and procedures.
Instead, you’ll learn how equipment works, how to care for it correctly, and how to identify early warning signs that indicate professional service may be needed. This knowledge helps you communicate more effectively with service technicians and make informed decisions about your gear.
