PADI Basic Mermaid is the first certification level in the PADI Mermaid Program. This course expands on introductory mermaid skills and emphasizes proper technique, breath control, and controlled underwater movement while wearing a mermaid tail.

Participants learn how to move efficiently, maintain awareness, and manage basic underwater skills safely. Training is progressive and skill-based, with a strong focus on comfort, confidence, and control rather than performance or endurance.

At Space City Dive Center, Basic Mermaid is taught as a structured aquatic course, not free swim or role-play. Certified PADI Mermaid Instructors guide participants through each skill step by step, creating a positive and confidence-building learning experience.
